Testing to AS/NZS 3760 catches those faults and gives you a record. If an insurer, auditor or WorkSafe inspector asks how you manage electrical risk, your tagged equipment and register are the answer. We set your intervals by how hard each area of your site is on its gear.
What We Check on Every Appliance
Anything with a plug gets the same process, from the office kettle to the angle grinder in the back of the ute.
Earth continuity
On earthed (Class I) appliances we confirm the earth runs from the plug pin to the metal body, so a fault trips the circuit instead of livening the case.
Insulation resistance
A test between the live parts and the outside of the appliance, to make sure the insulation will keep current where it belongs.
Polarity on leads
Extension leads and power boards are checked so active, neutral and earth are wired to the right pins from end to end.
Tag and register
Each item that passes is tagged with the test date and the next due date, then logged in a register you can hand to an auditor.
Failed items
Anything that fails is tagged out of service and taken out of use on the spot. We tell you what failed so you can repair or replace it.
How Often Gear Is Tested
AS/NZS 3760 sets the interval by how hard the equipment is used. We look at your site and tell you the right interval, rather than testing everything on the shortest one.
Every three months
Building and construction sites, and hire equipment before it goes out.
Every six to twelve months
Factories, workshops, commercial cleaning and other tough environments where gear is moved and knocked about.
Up to five years
Equipment in low-risk areas like offices, where it is not moved around or likely to be damaged.

Simple habits that keep electrical gear safe in the months between visits.
- Look over cords and plugs before use. If something is cut, cracked or hot, stop using it.
- Do not daisy-chain power boards or run leads under rugs and through doorways.
- Keep new gear aside for testing, or note it in your register when it arrives.
- Pull out anything with an out-of-date tag and keep it out of use until it is tested.

Book a serviceCan you test and tag a large Shepparton site over several days?
Yes. For bigger sites we can split the job across shifts or days and work area by area, so equipment is only out of use for the minute it takes to test.
Do you test and tag after hours in Shepparton?
Our standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. If your site cannot spare gear during the day, talk to us and we will work out a time that suits.
Is test and tag a legal requirement?
Workplace health and safety laws require employers to manage electrical risks, and AS/NZS 3760 is the standard most workplaces and insurers use to show that is being done. On construction sites, regular testing is required outright. We can tell you what applies to your site.
What happens if an item fails?
It gets an out-of-service tag and is taken out of use straight away. We explain why it failed, and it is listed in your report so you have a record of what was found and what was done about it.
Do you test new equipment?
New equipment does not need a test before its first use under AS/NZS 3760, but it does need to go on your register and be tested at the next interval. We can tag new gear as new to service so it is tracked from day one.
Can you do other safety checks on the same visit?
Yes. Most sites book test and tag alongside RCD testing, fire extinguishers, exit and emergency lighting and first aid kits, so everything is done in one visit and one report.
