Evacuation diagrams, Kyabram and Tatura

Evacuation Diagrams in Kyabram

We draw evacuation diagrams for workplaces, schools, childcare and aged care in Kyabram and Tatura. Each one is drawn from your actual building, shows exits, fire equipment and the assembly area, and is ready to mount.

When the alarm goes, nobody should have to guess

Staff usually know the way out of their own office. Visitors, contractors, new starters and students often do not. A clear diagram on the wall shows them where they are, where the nearest exit is and where to gather, in the few seconds they have to look.

We measure up your building, check where the extinguishers, hose reels and call points actually sit, and draw diagrams to AS 3745. Each one is turned to match where it hangs, so the map reads the same way as the room.

What Goes on Every Diagram

Australian Standard AS 3745 sets out what an evacuation diagram shows. Every diagram we draw covers the essentials below.

You are here

A clear marker showing where the reader is standing, so they can find their way out without having to work out the map first.

Exits and routes

Every designated exit and the path to it, marked so people can see the nearest way out and a second option if it is blocked.

Fire equipment

Extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets and alarm call points shown where they actually sit in the building.

Assembly area

Where everyone gathers once they are out, so wardens can count heads and nobody goes looking for a missing person inside.

Orientation

The diagram is turned to match the way the reader is facing where it hangs, so left on the page is left in the room.

Date and legend

A validity date and a simple legend, so anyone can read the symbols and you can see at a glance when it was last reviewed.

When Diagrams Need Updating

An out of date diagram can send people to an exit that is no longer there. Treat the diagram as part of the building, not a one-off poster.

  1. After a fit-out or move

New walls, moved doors or a change of tenancy mean the diagram no longer matches the building.

  2. When equipment moves

Extinguishers and hose reels that have moved need to be shown in their new spots.

  3. At regular reviews

Check the diagrams against the building at least every few years, and redraw them if anything has drifted.

Getting the Most From Them

A diagram only helps if people have seen it before the alarm goes off.

  • Mount diagrams at eye level near exits, lifts and in corridors people use every day.
  • Walk new staff past the nearest diagram in their first week.
  • Use the diagrams when you run your evacuation drill.
  • Tell us when you change the layout, so the diagrams can be redrawn.

Evacuation diagrams FAQs

Common questions from Kyabram and Tatura buildings. Anything else, just ask.

Book a service

Do you draw evacuation diagrams in Tatura?

Yes. Tatura is just down the road from our Kyabram base. We measure up on site there just as we do in Kyabram.

Can you update the old evacuation diagrams in our Kyabram building?

Yes. If your diagrams are out of date or the layout has changed, we check the building as it is now and redraw them so they match.

What needs to be on an evacuation diagram?

Under AS 3745, a diagram shows a "you are here" point, designated exits, fire equipment such as extinguishers, hose reels and call points, the assembly area, the date it was validated and a legend. It should also be turned to match the direction the reader is facing.

How many evacuation diagrams does my building need?

Enough that people can find one on their way out. In most buildings that means one near each main exit and at key points along corridors. We walk the building with you and recommend where they should go.

Do you need building plans to draw the diagrams?

Plans help, but they are not essential. If you do not have them, we measure up on site and draw the diagram from what is actually there.

Can you do evacuation diagrams on the same visit as other safety services?

Yes. We often measure up for diagrams on the same visit as fire equipment servicing and test and tag, and we already know where your extinguishers and hose reels are.
