Fire Extinguisher Servicing in Kyabram

Kyabram is our home town. We inspect, test and tag extinguishers for local shops, workshops, schools, farms and homes, then keep the dates and remind you before the next service is due.

Local servicing, without the wait

Because we are based in Kyabram, a service here does not mean waiting for a city contractor to have a run through the area. We work around your trading hours, and if an extinguisher fails we can usually get back with a replacement quickly.

Every extinguisher in a workplace needs an inspection every six months under AS 1851. That covers pressure, seals, condition and location, with a tag on each unit and a written report for your records. Home owners are welcome too. The same checks keep a home extinguisher ready for the day it is needed.

What We Check on Every Extinguisher

The same six checks on every unit, every visit, whether you have one extinguisher in the lunchroom or forty across a site.

Physical condition

Body, hose, nozzle and label checked for dents, corrosion, cracks and leaks. The operating instructions need to be readable at a glance.

Pressure

The gauge has to sit in the operating range. Too low or too high and the extinguisher may not discharge when it is needed.

Pin and tamper seal

A missing pin or broken seal can mean the unit has been used or tampered with. We replace it or flag the extinguisher.

Weight

Extinguishers without a gauge, such as CO2 units, are weighed to confirm they are still full.

Location and signage

Mounted in the right spot, easy to reach, not blocked by stock or furniture, and signed for the fire risk nearby.

Tag and record

Every unit is tagged with the service date, and the result goes into your report so you can show it to an insurer or auditor.

How Often Extinguishers Are Serviced

Homes are not held to AS 1851, but the same checks keep a home extinguisher ready. We are happy to look after them on the same schedule.

  1. Every six months

Inspection, tag and report, covering every check listed above.

  2. Every five years

Most extinguishers are emptied, pressure tested and refilled, or replaced if they fail.

  3. After any use

Even a short squirt drops the pressure. Have it recharged or replaced before it goes back on the wall.

Between Visits

A few habits that keep your extinguishers ready in the months between inspections.

  • Keep extinguishers in plain sight and clear of stock, boxes and furniture.
  • Keep them out of direct sun and away from heaters and other extreme heat.
  • Glance at the gauge and tamper seal when you walk past. Call us if either looks wrong.
  • Show your team where the extinguishers are and which type suits which fire.

Fire extinguisher servicing FAQs

Common questions from Kyabram businesses and home owners. Anything else, just ask.

Book a service

How much does fire extinguisher testing cost in Kyabram?

The cost of fire extinguisher testing depends on how many units you have and what else is being serviced on the visit. Call or send a request with a rough count and we will quote before any work starts.

Do you service extinguishers on farms around Kyabram?

Yes. Dairy sheds, machinery sheds, utes and tractors all carry extinguishers that see dust, heat and weather. We service them on the farm and tag every unit so you know where each one stands.

How often do fire extinguishers need to be inspected?

Under Australian Standard AS 1851, portable fire extinguishers in workplaces are inspected every six months. Most also need a pressure test and refill every five years. We keep track of both for you and get in touch before each one is due.

What happens if an extinguisher fails inspection?

We tell you on the day what failed and why, then quote to repair, recharge or replace it. Anything that fails is noted in your report so you have a record of what was done.

Does my home extinguisher need inspecting?

Homes are not held to AS 1851, but the same checks keep a home extinguisher ready to use. We are happy to look after home extinguishers and fire blankets on the same schedule.

Can you do other safety checks on the same visit?

Yes. Most sites book extinguishers alongside fire blankets, hose reels, test and tag, exit and emergency lighting and first aid kits, so everything is done in one visit and one report.
