Compliance is about the records

When an auditor or insurer asks about electrical safety, they want to see two things: that your portable equipment is tested, and that your RCDs work. Most sites have one done and the other forgotten, or the records sitting in different places.

We test both on the same visit and put the results in one register and report. Appliances are tested to AS/NZS 3760, RCDs are trip-time tested, and anything that fails is flagged on the day. Then we remind you before each part falls due.

How Often Sites Are Tested

AS/NZS 3760 sets intervals by environment. A site with an office and a workshop may need two different intervals, and we split the schedule so you are not paying to test everything early.

  1. Every three months

    Construction sites and hire equipment.

  2. Every six to twelve months

    Workshops, factories, farms and other tough environments, plus RCD trip-time tests in most workplaces.

  3. Up to five years

    Low-risk office equipment that stays in one place.

Between Visits

Keep your register accurate and your gear safe between compliance visits.

  • Add new equipment to your register when it arrives, and keep it for the next visit.
  • Pull anything with an expired or missing tag out of use until it is tested.
  • Press the RCD test buttons on your switchboard as part of your regular checks.
  • Report damaged cords, plugs and power boards straight away rather than waiting for the next test.

Can you take over from our previous tester in Shepparton?

Yes. Send us your last register if you have it and we will carry on from your existing intervals. If you do not have records, we will start a fresh register on the first visit.

Is this the same as an electrical inspection by an electrician?

No. We test portable equipment and RCDs. Fixed wiring, switchboard work and repairs are done by a licensed electrician, and we will tell you if we find something that needs one.

What is electrical compliance testing?

It is the testing a workplace needs to show it is managing electrical risk: test and tag of portable equipment, RCD testing, and a register and report that records the results. We do all three in one visit.

Do you do fixed wiring or switchboard repairs?

No. We test and tag portable equipment and test RCDs. If we find a problem with fixed wiring or a switchboard RCD that needs replacing, we will tell you so a licensed electrician can fix it.

What records will I get?

A register of every item tested with its result and next due date, the RCD trip times, and a written report. It is the paperwork an insurer or auditor will ask for.

Can you add fire equipment and first aid to the visit?

Yes. Many sites have us do extinguishers, emergency lighting and first aid kits on the same visit, so all their safety records come from one place.
